Certify Your Expertise: Ergonomic Assessment Skills
Introduction
An ergonomic assessment is a study of a job or task to identify the risk factors that contribute to work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs). This course will equip you with the skills to conduct comprehensive ergonomic assessments and identify solutions to mitigate the identified risk factors.
Steps in Ergonomic Assessment
- Identify Jobs or Workstations for Ergonomic Assessment: The first step in the ergonomic assessment process is to identify jobs or workstations that may present a risk of WMSDs.
- Analyze Physical Job Demands: The next step is to analyze the physical demands of the job or workstation. This includes looking at factors such as force, repetition, posture, and vibration.
- Identify Ergonomic Stressors: Once the physical demands have been analyzed, the next step is to identify the ergonomic stressors that may contribute to the development of WMSDs.
- Recommend Controls: After the ergonomic stressors have been identified, the next step is to recommend controls to reduce or eliminate these stressors.
- Evaluate Effectiveness of Controls: The final step in the ergonomic assessment process is to evaluate the effectiveness of the controls that have been implemented.
